History of Nirmal Kuteya Seechewal

Initially, Nirmal Kuteya, being situated at a distance from Seechewal village, was a secluded place suitable for saints and ascetics.

It is difficult to know the detail of Nirmala saints who came to be associated with the place from old times.

Among the Nirmala saints who early settled here the name of Sant Baba Lal Singh Ji is prominent.

Sant Lal Singh Ji

Born in Khanpur village of Nakodar tehsil (Distt. Jalandhar), Sant Lal Singh Ji was a follower of Sant Bhola Singh. After his fourteen years' stay Haridwar in the company of ascetics, he kept moving and preaching Gurmat in Doaba and Malwa regions of the punjab. He spent the last five years of his life at Nirmal Kuteya Seechewal and passed away here on the 16th of March 1978.Religions ceremonies are performed on the 3rd of Chetra every year in his memory.


Sant Avtar Singh Ji

Sant Avtar Singh Ji, who tok over the charge of Nirmal Kuteya Seechewal in 1981, was born on the 10th of Phagun, 1953 in the household of Mata Gurdial Kaur and Shri Durga Das.

He spent many years in the service of Sant Darbara Singh of lopon. Sant Darbara Singh was very happy with the devotion and service of Sant Avtar Singh and bestowed on him his grace.

After this, he went to Haridwar in the company of Sri Mahant Sant Sucha Singh of Kankhal.From there he came to take the charge of Nirmal Kuteya Seechewal at the request of the people of Seechewal area. He showed the berieved souls the path of communion with God by starting a stream of Gurbani at Nirmal Kuteya and distributed among Gursangat the divine treasure of Naam by blending service, simran, and satsang.
He also worked towards the spiritual transformation of the people of the area by preaching Gurbani and teaching good moral values.

He handed over the responsibility of Nirmal Kuteya Seechewal to his choicest follower Sri Maan Sant Balbir Singh Ji before he was martyred at the hands of some extremists on 27 May 1988.
